clearily means that you (yes, you = you, Wiwit! :P) shouldn't postpone on
tomorrow the tasks that you are able to do today. I guess it's because, and I
found it out "on my own skin" so many, many times, who knows what
will keep you from succeeding in doing it tomorrow, and then the day after
tomorrow and so on. And you can end up not being able to do important things
that needed your attention, just because you were too lazy to do them when
you were able. This is a very straight foroward saying, and it's very sound
and clear, and true! And yet, I myself never learn this lesson, no matter how
many times I prove it to be correct... argh! |

DeleteHmm, I think it's better to use "to leave" than "to let". So, I think it's better if you translate it like: Don't leave on tomorrow what you can do today!
But I think that's if you translate it word to word. A much better translation into English should be like: Don't wait till tomorrow what you can do today. Don't you think so? :P

DeleteMaybe even better: "Don't wait until tomorrow to do what you can do today!" Well, there are many better ways to reformulate or even make it sound very good or catchy or even rhyme, than how I translated it. But, even though you can't keep the charm and sound of the Romanian saying, by just keeping the words order, well, I still tried to keep it so that at least it's easier to make a correlation between Romanian words and English words.
So what do you think, shouldn't I try to keep it as close as possible to the actual Romanian words?
And yes, "leave" is better than "let" there I guess :D Should I go back and change it? :) seriously, should I ? :D
Iya, it happens to many too for so many times. :D I know that it's true, but still I often didn't care about it. Or at least, I didn't remember about it :D
ReplyDeleteBtw, there is a pun in Indonesian relating to that proverb. I heard it from a commercial break. Something like, why should you wait for tomorrow, if you can do it the day after tomorrow? :D
